Hugh Billy CollierHugh Billy Collier, (Bill), 81, of Stanardsville, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012, at The Harbor at Renaissance in Stanardsville. He was born August 31, 1931, in Barboursville, Virginia, to the late Boggie and Mamie Morris Collier. He is survived by two sisters; Lucille Walls of Fredericksburg and Betty and husband John Herndon of Barboursville, and three brothers; Molay (Buck) and wife Minnie Collier, Herbert and wife Frances Collier, and William (Poo) and wife Linda Collier, all of Barboursville. He was preceded in death by brother-in-law China Walls.
Fifty-nine years ago, he married Willie Jean Monger and together they had three children; a daughter, Patricia Ann who is married to Gary Myers, and sons John Hugh (Butch) and Robert Wade Collier, all of Stanardsville. Bill is also survived by eleven grand children; Melinda Collier of Stanardsville, Tabatha Myers and husband Paul of Waynesboro, Christie Spencer and husband Albert of Louisa, Heather Daniels and husband Bryan of Madison, Jennifer Flores and husband Able of Juarez, Mx., Sandra Collier and friend Val of Charlottesville, Robert Jr. (Robbie) and fiancé Heather of Stanardsville, Christopher Collier of Gordonsville, Christopher Wolfe of Stanardsville, Travis Wolfe of Locust Grove, and Amber Faith Collier of Stanardsville, and fourteen great grand children. Also he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill worked a number of years for the Southern Railroad and as a supervisor at the Webster Brick Company of Somerset. He later retired to his life’s second love, full-time farming. Bill loved nature, the land, and tending his cattle.
The family will welcome friends at First Bible Baptist Church Map at Ruckersville on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A service of remembrance celebrating Bill’s life will be held on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. at First Bible Baptist Church Map with the Reverend James E. Wood presiding.
Burial will follow in Elk Run Cemetery, Elkton Map.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation be given to First Bible Baptist Church, PO Box 42, Ruckersville, Virginia 22968.

Stephen William Beahm 4/28/72 - 6/18/12

Stephen William Beahm, 40, of Timberville, VA, died June 18, 2012 at his residence.

He was born April 28, 1972 in Falls Church, VA, and was the son of Katherine Vance Robey of Broadway, and the late Clarence J. Beahm.

He was an electronic technician at ComSonics for 10 years.

His brother, Joseph Lee Beahm, preceded him in death.

A service will be held at a later date.

Charles Michael Beahm

Charles Michael Beahm, 94, of Botetourt County, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007. "Pop," as he was affectionately known by his family, was born March 3, 1913, to the late George W. and Alverta Early Beahm. Mr. Beahm was a native of Nokesville, Prince William County, and a life long member of the Church of the Brethren. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Cloverdale Church of the Brethren where he served as a deacon and as a Sunday school teacher. He was a graduate of Strayer College in Washington, D.C.
On August 8, 1949, he married Irene Sanderson and moved to Botetourt County where he was a farmer until his retirement. Mr. Beahm was a founding member and Director Emeritus of the Botetourt County Farm Bureau. He was also a retired member of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Troutville. Mr. Beahm and his wife, Irene, were strong supporters of the 4-H programs in Botetourt County. In 1975, the Botetourt County Chamber of Commerce honored his family as the Farm Family of the Year.
Mr. Beahm was preceded in death by his siblings, Cora, Early, Ralph and Hazel. He is survived by his wife, Irene Sanderson Beahm; children and spouses, Lillian and Michael Beahm of Botetourt County, Myra Anne and Tom Townes of Pennington, N.J., Sally and John Early Beahm of Draper, and Mary Jane and Tim Dailey of Forest; grandchildren, Matthew Townes and wife, Ansley, Jonathan and Elizabeth Townes, Will and Kelly Beahm, Meg, Ben, Sam and Annie Kate Dailey; sisters, Ella Beahm and Rosa Lee Rankin of Catlett; a brother, Robert Beahm of Nokesville; and a sister-in-law, Frances Sanderson of Roanoke.
Charles Beahm will be remembered forever as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Throughout his long life he had a remarkable memory and a gift for storytelling that he shared enthusiastically with his family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 28, 2007, at Cloverdale Church of the Brethren with Glenn McCrickard officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Oakey's East Chapel.

Alma Rose Heilig Safrit 1917-2011

Alma Rose Heilig Safrit, of Irish Potato Rd., Concord, died on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at CMC-Northeast. Mrs. Safrit was born on May 10, 1917 in Stanly County, daughter of the late Joseph Heilig and Laura Ury Heilig. She worked in retail sales until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil L. Safrit. She is survived by two sons, Walter "Chub" Safrit and wife Donna and Robert Safrit both of Concord, three daughters, Marilyn Lewin and husband Bob of Va., Judith Helms of Cornelius, and Christy Doherty and husband Tom of Va., 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grand-children. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Kay Overcash. The family will receive friends after the service in the Church Parish Hall. A private burial will be at a later date. Michael Wayne Collier 1949-2009

Michael Wayne Collier, 60, of Spotsylvania County died Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mr. Collier was a native of Spotsylvania and a graduate of Spotsylvania High School. He served in the U.S. Navy and was an Honor Guard member. Mr. Collier retired from the FBI Academy in Quantico as an Electrician. He was a member of Round Oak Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Mary Lou Collier; one daughter, Jennifer Rowley and her husband, Jeffrey of Spotsylvania; one son, Kenneth Wayne Collier and his wife, Brennan of Goochland; three granddaughters, Lauren Rowley, Allison Rowley and Aydan Collier Drake; nine brothers; four sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, April 19 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel with the Rev. Randolph M. Newsome officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 7 p.m. Interment will be private.

Marsha Rae Graves Cantwell, 43, of Charlottesville, Virginia, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010.

She was the daughter of the late James M. Graves I of Michigan.

She leaves behind her parents, Donnie and Barbara Crickenberger of Gordonsville; grandmother, Martha Crickenberger of Charlottesville; a sister, Sheila Williams of Charlottesville; brothers, Jamie Graves of Palmyra and Jason Crickenberger of Gordonsville; five nephews and two nieces; stepsons, Andrew and Matthew Cantwell of Wisconsin and her pride and joy, her pomeranian, Frankie.   She will be missed by many but she has joined brothers and sisters in Christ who have gone on before. 

A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Charlottesville First Assembly, 1010 E. Rio Road. The Reverend Art Snoots will officiate.

The family requests donations be made to Charlottesville First Assembly to the Marsha Graves Memorial Scholarship Fund benefitting Teen Challenge.

Chasity Marie "Sissy" Corbin




"Sissy"

Chasity Marie "Sissy" Corbin, 27, died Saturday, June 11, 2011 along with her unborn child. Chasity was born on May 11, 1984 in Culpeper to John Leon and Brenda Ann Nicholson Pack.

Chasity enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with her family. She liked turtles and racing 4-wheelers with her husband.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Kenneth William Corbin, two children, Breanna Marie Pack and Trevor William Corbin, all of Culpeper, one brother, Chris Pack and his wife, Jessica and their children, Evan, Hayden and Hunter, all of Madison, and her maternal grandparents, Marie and Milton Nicholson of Culpeper.

Additional survivors include her mother and father-in-law, Frances May and Bernard Lee Hawkins of Culpeper, her grandfather-in-law, Charles Stanley, two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Albert Stanley, Jr. and his wife, Rebecca of Reva, Gerry Corbin and his wife, Debbie of Unionville, one sister-in-law, Sherri Frazier and her husband, Tommy of Leon, and a host of uncles, aunts, and extended family.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Wright officiating.

Interment will follow in Etlan Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Roger Nicholson, Rocky Nicholson, Jake Nicholson, Tommy Frazier, Tatum Aylor and Kevin Shifflett and Calvin Graves.

Jason Collier September 8, 1977 – October 15, 2005

Atlanta Hawks center Jason Collier died early Saturday morning of an apparent heart attack. He was 28.

Hawks players were notified of Collier's death at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning before a scheduled workout was cancelled.

Collier, was an American professional basketball player in the NBA.  At death, the 7 ft tall center Collier weighed 250 pounds. He was the first active NBA player to die since Malik Sealy in 2000. Collier led Catholic Central High School of his hometown Springfield, Ohio to the 1996 Ohio State Basketball Championship, for which he was named 1996 Ohio Mr. Basketball. After transferring from Indiana, he completed his college career at Georgia Tech and was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 15th overall pick of the 2000 NBA Draft. He was traded on draft day to the Houston Rockets in exchange for their pick, Joel Przybilla. He then played for the Rockets and the Atlanta Hawks, averaging 5.6 points per game over his career.
