Dr. Elisabeth Kirstin Beahm - 3/07/13

Dr. Elisabeth Kirstin Beahm March 7, 2013, Houston, Texas, after a long illness. Dr. Beahm was Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas, M D Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Beahm made important contributions in breast and nasal reconstructive surgery and was a recognized world leader in her specialty. For the past 18 years, she tirelessly donated her skills and services for the benefit of crippled children in Puerto Rico. Admired and respected by colleagues, she was a beloved teacher and mentor to numerous medical students, residents in training, and fellows in reconstructive microsurgery. The consummate academic role model who "danced it backwards and in heels..." She is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert L. Walton, of Chicago, Illinois, and by her father, Mr. William J. Beahm, of Sacramento, California.
